Introducing Banshee
Howler Banshee is a high performance, full length transcoding card, designed for networks running a high volume of calls. Banshee’s performance, with it’s unique floating license model, allows multiple deployments across your network to give thousands of channels of transcoding capacity.
Transcoding complex codecs like G.729 requires a substantial amount of computing power. Banshee completely relieves your switch of this CPU overhead, freeing it up to handle other tasks and therefore increasing the performance of your network.
Howler Banshee transcodes between G.729a and G.711. Other codec combinations will be released shortly. It's compatible with all leading soft-switches and works on Windows and Free BSD. 64-bit and 32-bit versions are also available.
Howler Banshee is due for release in Q1 2010. It will be available from the Howler Web Store and all our usual channels. Like the rest of the Howler family, this full-length Cell processor card is upgradable and flexible. You decide exactly how many channels you need and you can add additional channels to your Banshee at any time.
Howler Banshee G.729 codecs are fully indemnified and do not require additional royalty fees to be paid.
